Hi Internet!

You’ll have to excuse me if I take the next few days off from blogging. Our house caught fire and we’re a bit a shaken. Mom and Ty Lee and I are all okay, but we have some fixing to do. I’ll be back with my adventures as soon as I can be!

Love,

May Lee Cat

Here’s Ty Lee!  This picture was taken right before she attacked my Mother’s foot. Aside from eating and sitting in the window, attacking Mom while she walks is her favorite thing to do. You wouldn’t believe that we’re sisters, would you? I would never attack Mother’s foot…unless I got some treats or cuddles out of it. (I did, too. This just proves my theory that the best time to attack a Giant Bald Cat is when they’re putting on their coverings to protect their baldness from the weather, but more on that on a different day…)

Internet, you know some of my favorite things, and they’re all perfectly normal, but Ty Lee is a bit of a deviant. Now, I love my scratching post as much as the next Cat, but I think I might need to intervene between Ty Lee and our post. Internet, I’m not sure how to help my dear Sister.

She would rather snuggle with the scratching post than me. How do I help my dear sister and get my snuggling partner back for when my Mother isn’t home?

My Favorite Things, a parody by May Lee

Tuna on trays and whiskers on kittens
Bright shiny objects and unraveled mittens
Brown paper packages, also some strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored scratchboards and crisp kitten nom-noms
my sister and toy bells and batting small pom-poms
Wild birds that fly by my eyes on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Naps on warm blankets and a clean litterbox
Flushing toilets and playthings (Mom’s socks!)
Silver clean faucets that drip with ping-pings
These are a few of my favorite things

When my mom yells
When the shot stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

And, you Internet, are also one of my favorite things. I hope you’ve had a good day.

Love,

May Lee Cat

Internet, good morning!

I didn’t have a very good morning. It started out fairly normal. Ty Lee and I got up to play while Mother was still sleeping. Don’t worry – we do it all the time – Mom, doesn’t mind. At least not usually, but today we were playing in the bathroom and TY LEE had the great idea that we should go spelunking in the bathroom cabinet for some of these:

Image

I’m not sure what Mother uses them for, but these things are great, and there are always so many under the sink! Anyway, like I was saying, my sister had the great idea to go exploring under the sink. Mother didn’t seem to think so. First of all, she called to us to stop, but when she says stop we know she’s never serious. So, naturally, we kept playing.

We heard Mom get up, but I didn’t think much of it. Ty Lee, on the other paw, ran. I figured Mom would just pick me up and close the bathroom door, but she came in with one of these:

Internet, do you know how long it takes me to get my coiffure just right? Needless to say, I abandoned all hope and ran from the bathroom yowling and fur looking afright. Ty Lee keeps telling me to stop being so dramatic, but what is life without drama? That aside, how would my Mother know her faults if I didn’t tell her?

I tried my best to look pitiful and I walked around yowling loudly while Ty Lee rolled her eyes and ate breakfast. Mother ignored me, so I set about grooming myself, and I have to say, Internet, I felt a little hurt that Mother didn’t make a bigger deal over me. I was almost ready to go cry in my kitten chow when my Mother sat down on the floor and began talking in her strange language. I might not be able to understand everything she says, but she picked me up and cuddled me and I couldn’t help but start to purr and paw at her face. Her purrer seems to be purr-manently broken, but I could still tell what she meant.

I love you too, Mother.

So spray bottle aside, I think today is going to be all right. I just have to remember next time to let Ty Lee take the rap for our early morning cabinet adventures.

Have a good day, Internet!

Love,

May Lee Cat

Good morning, Internet! Did you sleep well? It’s a lovely Saturday morning, and as Ty Lee and I were watching the birds, I started to think about how lucky I am. I’ve got a place to play, all the food and water I could ever want, a sister to dominate and a mother who thinks that I’m, well, the cat’s meow. Three months ago though, I wasn’t as lucky. I lived in a cage at the Animal Adoption Foundation ( http://www.aafpets.org ).

Image

There were lots of Cats and dogs there, and from what they said, the AAF was the place to be. You see, the AAF has a lot of Giant Bald Cats doing this thing called volunteering. From what I understand, it’s a lot like Helping. They sure spent a lot of time playing with me and holding me. They even took me out of my cage when my Mother came to meet me, and they took my first glamor shot:

Who could resist a face like that? If I were a Giant Bald Cat looking for a kitten to enrich my life then undoubtably, I’d pick me.

There’s Ty Lee’s glamor shot. I guess she looks okay, but you can see the true beauty in the family, right?

I haven’t had a long life, but I know enough to understand that while I don’t know where I was born, I know where I came from, and that I had a strong beginning. So as mushy as this might sound, here’s a hearty and happy thank you to the Animal Adoption Foundation. Without you guys, my Mother and I would have never found each other. Oh, and I suppose Ty Lee, too.

May Lee Cat

Good morning, Internet! Today we slept late and when we opened up the blinds, what a beautiful sight! We don’t always open the blinds, but we could hear the birds chirping. Ty Lee and I are both a little short to look out the window, so Mom set a chair up for us to sit on. A lot of the snow had melted and the sun is shining today. I guess the real reason I’m excited is because this is my first spring. Back when we lived at the shelter and the leaves were falling, the older cats used to tell us about spring. They would talk about everything coming back to life, but the best thing they talked about was the birds. I can’t wait for more of them to come back.

Anyhow, on a day like today who wants to be online? I’ve got birds to watch!

Internet, I have a confession to make. Sometimes I like to play tricks on my Mother. I know she’s a Giant Bald Cat, but sometimes it’s so much fun. Ty Lee says I should let her be, but I know that inside, Mother is really laughing just as hard as I am.

Thus, here is my first lesson on confusing your Giant Bald Cat. This really only works if you have more than one litterbox, but you’re welcome to try it even if you don’t.

1. Use one litterbox. Resist the urge to bury.

2. Go to other litterbox. Dig like you’re going to China!

Here’s an illustration:

It’s the simple things in life that we should take pleasure from, Internet – like my Giant Bald Cat. She knows that I love her, and if she ever questioned it then I’d bring her the next spider I kill, but what’s a Cat to do when temptation arises?

Also, I think I did pretty well for drawing with a thing called a mouse. Don’t I look beautiful?

Well, that’s all for tonight, Internet. See you soon!

Love,

May Lee Cat
